Creative Ice Cube Tray Tricks

Ice cube trays are incredibly useful not to mention versatile. In addition to ice they can be used to make bite size treats, store frozen treats, store extra herbs, as well as several other creations. All you need to do is transfer the cubes into a labeled zip-lock bag in the freezer for future use. Here are some creative ideas to try with your ice cube tray.

Coffee: Love iced coffee but hate it being watered down?Freeze some coffee and add it to your morning brew. Viola! No more watered down coffee.

Cookies
: The next time you bake cookies, put half of the batter into an ice cube tray and freeze. When you are craving something sweet you can just bake just one cookie.

Dessert: When it comes to dessert, portion control can be a bit hard. Fill your ice
cube tray with melted chocolate and place one strawberry in each slot. Just refrigerate for one hour and you have chocolate covered strawberries without the hassle!

Herbs
: Too often we buy herbs and don’t use them all before they go bad.
A great way to save and use the herbs in the future is to put them in an ice cube tray with some olive oil. The best herbs to use are oregano, sage, thyme and rosemary.

Stock: Just freeze your leftover homemade vegetable or chicken stock for future use. Thaw what you need to use; this comes in handy while making dinner.

Wine: Freezing leftover wine is a great idea, on the occasion you actually have leftover wine. Just add cube or two while cooking or add it to your glass of wine to chill it without diluting it.
