5 Signs You Need a Dehumidifier

For a number of health reasons, it is extremely important to have proper humidity levels in your home. Having too low or too high of humidity levels can pose issues from dry skin to growth of mold and mildew. A dehumidifier can help you monitor and maintain proper moisture levels. Here are 5 tips to help you gauge whether or not you are in need of one:

Window and Patio Door Condensation

Water condensation or fog build up on the interior of glass is a sure sign there is too much moisture in the room.

Mold Spots on the Ceiling or Corners of Walls

Check your bathrooms where moisture naturally will be high. Make sure you are not seeing any dark spots on the ceiling, corners of walls,  behind the toilet, etc.

Musty Smell or Odor

The presence of a musty odor in basements, crawl spaces, entrances and garages signals the presence of mold and mildew. Anytime you encounter a smell, there will most likely be mold.

Reoccurring Spring Water Run-Off Dampness

If you are seeing white or grayish water marks in your basement or if spring water run-off is a reoccurring problem, you will have heightened moisture levels.

Water Stain Marks

Whether you have just bought the house or have lived in it for years, it is
always good to check for water stains around the home. Water stains can indicate moisture has and still may be present.
